Hello everyone. Welcome to my first ever geekly review. Let me tell you that I am very excited about these posts. The geelky review will be about cool new technologies that I stumble upon. I am going to be honest, these will probably be heavily based on camera gear and apple computer stuff. How often will these I be posting geekly reviews…??… Dunno… if it is slow in the tech industry, then not often, busy…. then often.

onlive.com

I am going to start off with something a little off canter for myself. I have not been this truly amazed by a technology since i saw Steve Jobs announce the iphone… and it has to do with a product that I would probably never purchase. I am not a gamer. To be honest with my self, games have never really interested me. I like playing games for the social aspect of it. I seriously start getting board with games after about 15 min of playing by myself, but I could play for hours with a group of friends. Anyways, this is the future of gaming, not only with console games (xbox, playstation, wii, etc), but computer gaming as well. The cool thing with this, is that you can play it on pretty much anything that can connect to the internet from, a computer to a smartphone (aka iphone). Cloud gaming is the future. Feel free to watch this video presentation of onlive.com. Must warn you, it is long, but if way cool technology interestes you, it is great. Here is the first 10 min from youtube, they have all the sections, but if you want all of them go here http://www.viddler.com/explore/gamertagradio/videos/160/

apple tablet

Apple has to be one of my favorite companies. They made computers cool (to be disputed). They invented the iphone. I love how people either love them or hate them. I must admit, I am on the love them side. They are more expensive, but to me it is worth it for a quality product with excellent customer service. I don’t believe that they will ever have, or even come close, to half of the computer market share, but I don’t care. If they did, I would probably not like them any more….

Recently there have been many rumors about an upcoming apple tablet computer. Do I believe it will come soon… I have no idea. I hope so, but it would have to blow my mind for me to get one. Apple has this allure and shroud of secrecy around them and their future products that only generates buzz. I love this quote about them in reference to the upcoming apple tablet; “I don’t know anyone who works at Apple who doubts these things; nor do I know anyone at Apple who knows a whit more,” Gruber writes. “I don’t know anyone who’s seen the hardware or the software, nor even anyone who knows someone else who has seen the hardware or software.”

Now on to the predictions: Apple wil release a tablet computer. It will be called the islate. I believe it will be released before the end of Feb. The islate with be half iphone and half macbook air. It will have to modes it can run in. One mode will be the ipod mode, that will make it look and function just like a super sized iphone. The other mode will be the computer mode that will have a full version of snow leopard and have all the functionality of a laptop. Those are my predictions and I am sticking to them…. maybe.

website favorites

www.dxomark.com

This is the best site for comparing digital cameras. They mostly have DSLR’s, and they test all aspects of image quality and put it on little graphs for you to see. It is way nerdy, but I could seriously spend days on this site comparing cameras side by side. I also love it because it uses measured data and not user opinion. Who cares about user opinion… show me the data. Just kidding, user opinion is good, but it needs to be backed up by this.
