Jose and Marina {Sneak Preview – San Angelo Wedding Photography – Cactus Hotel}

Well, I have renewed my love for Black and White photography and as a tribute… all of the pictures in this preview will be sans colour.  (For all those non word people, that means without color.)

This past weekend we photographed a great wedding.  Jose and Marina were a blast to get to know and hang out with.  They have such bubbly personalities.  Both of them come from families with 5 children, so lets just say this was no small wedding!  But who doesn’t love big, loud, family events?!?!?!  I personally LOVE them!  It was a pleasure to meet the whole family and capture the day.

So now of some photos…  This was taken before the wedding.  We were at the Cactus Hotel and this lighting in one of the rooms was so striking!

Look how great these two look!  Marina looked amazing and Jose looked quite nice himself!

Zach and Tamea San Angelo Wedding photography {sneak preview}

This past weekend we photographed Zach and Tamea’s wedding.  It was at the gorgeous Emmanual Episcpal Church – you know… the church with the amazing arches in downtown San Angelo, TX!  And the reception was at the Fort Concho Commissary. Not only are they a beautiful couple, but they know how to have a good time!  Despite the weather being a tad hot (and by a tad I mean over 100 degrees…) everyone still danced and jumped around for hours!

Anyway, here are a couple of our favorites for our ‘sneak preview’.  The second picture was taken with my awesome macro tubes… Look how we got to the rings!

This was a sweet moment Colin captured right after the ceremony.  Zach and Tamea walked straight out the doors, turned the corner, and had a kiss to celebrate!

I love first dance photos… They are usually so precious and intimate.  I think the lighting and contrast made the picture even more dramatic!

Jordan and Georgia’s Wedding Photography {Part 1}

So here it is… Part 1 of Jordan and Georgia’s wedding day!  I will say, I (Andre’a) spent quite a bit of time with the girls that day, and Georgia was one of the most laid back relaxed brides I’ve ever seen!  She wasn’t worried about a thing… just excited to see her groom and get married!

They chose to see each other before the actual ceremony.  We we able to get a couple shots of the two at their “first glance,” which was special.  I love photograph and capturing that moment when they see each other for the first time that day.  Everyones reactions are different, but it’s truly priceless to see those smiles, tears, hugs, kisses, and tender beautiful moments!

After the “first look,”  it was off to the carriage house!  At the Lemonia Grove, they had an old antique carriage house that was on their property.  We went up to the top floor to do some photography of Jordan and Georgia.  Let me just say, the building was fabulous!  We loved everything about it… the distressed floors and walls, the peeling wallpaper, the lighting… AWESOME!  That place had so much character and was inspiring to us!

Then we headed outside to take some more photographs.  As we mentioned earlier, there was a pretty cool corvette we were able to use!  We also started in on some of the bridal party pictures.  I loved all the personality in this wedding!  It wasn’t just the bride and groom that were fun… but the whole bridal party!  The bridesmaids and groomsmen were just as lighthearted and goofy.  It was so great to meet every single one of them!

Well, I’m sad to say, that we are wrapping up this wedding.  I’ve always thought we have an amazing job.. photographing people on such a special day.  But then we get to go home and re-live that day for weeks!  It literally consumes our days and we LOVE it!  However, the time must come when we finish editing the photos and finalize everything.  That’s where we’re about at with Jordan and Georgia’s wedding.  It’s a very bittersweet time as we look back and remember all the fun we had and the beautiful wedding that took place… and then move on to the next amazing wedding!  (and then have the same feelings!)  These families have been a privilege to work with and from the bottom of our hearts, wish Jordan and Georgia a very happy marriage together!

Jordan and Georgia’s Wedding Photography {Part 2}

Part 2… the ceremony (and a couple pictures right before)

Jordan and Georgia decided to see each other before hand.  We were able to take a TON of fun portraits of just the two of them.  The owners of Lemonia Grove had a fun old Corvette that he took out for some photos!  We’ll have more of those on the next post…

The ceremony was great.  There were some serious times with hilarious parts as well, all intermixed.  All we saw were huge smiles everywhere!  The ceremony was led by Kirt Dauphin of PaulAnn Baptist Church.  He did a superb job, if I do say so myself.

Jordan and Georgia’s Wedding Photography {Part 3}

We’re going to try something a little different this time and see how it works.  What we’re going to do is… blog this wedding backwards!  So this is the reception of Jordan and Georgia’s wedding.  We actually did a sneak peak a couple weeks ago and you can check it out HERE.

We’ve actually known Georgia for quite some time now.  She was a great family friend that I (Andre’a) grew up around.  Hearing her name around our household growing up was definitely not uncommon.  Actually, there was a whole slew of kids we were always hearing about… always good and fun things of course!  Now that years have past and she’s graduated college, it’s neat to see her find her perfect match.  There’s just something sweet about watching someone grow up and seeing they’ve found their ‘soul mate.’  Jordan has been fun to get to know this past year.  He just fits in so well with their family, it’s like we’ve known him for years!  Jordan’s such an adventurous guy, and with all Georgia’s family’s outdoor activities…. well, let’s just say it was a match made in heaven… LITERALLY!

I know we mentioned a ton of amazing things about this wedding from the sneak preview post.  The location was at the Lemonia Grove in Corona, CA (right outside of LA).  Not only is it beautiful, but the weather was perfect!  It was the end of June and the temperature was is the 80′s, I think.  None of that 110 degree weather that West Texas has to offer, that’s for sure!

This couple was pretty laid back the whole afternoon!  As you can tell in some of these pictures, this was a day to enjoy and have fun!  So there were lots of sweet moments, but many goofy fun ones as well.  It was fantastic because it totally brought out Jordan and Georgia’s personalities!  And they left to everyone throwing beach balls at them, which was hilarious!

Alex and Daniel’s wedding photography {sneak preview}

We have been looking forward to Alex and Daniel’s wedding for almost a year now!  They got married in the Barr Mansion in Austin, Texas.  The venue was spectacular, the food was fantastic, and the wedding was perfect!

We’ll put more photos up later, but here’s a quick snap shot of the evening.

Colin says this picture is one of his favorite wedding shots ever.  He says it reminds him of a fairytale.  What a perfect ending to the perfect day!

No shoving the cake in someone’s face here!  Only the sweetest cutting and feeding ever!

This was a fun photo we took after the ceremony!  We grabbed Alex and Daniel for a few minutes to take some pictures and this old building with the single light was amazing!

Walking down the aisle looking at her soon-to-be husband.

We will have much more to post later!  Check back soon!

Kim and Bill’s Wedding – {San Angelo wedding photography}

I seriously don’t even know where to begin with this amazing wedding…  It was all so great!

Bill is a marine and Kim is a nurse.  (Sounds like a good combination to me!)  They also both love motorcycles!  Kim has quite a bit of Hawaiian heritage in her family.  We have never shot a “hawaiian” wedding before, and I must say, I loved it!  It’s always neat when you get to see the culture behind what makes the family turn!  I’ll write more as we go, but for now lets get to some pictures.

Here are some of Kim’s getting ready shots.  I love the lei of flowers that Kim is wearing… and her shoes were just FUN!  (they were purple with sequence on them!)  Her matron of honor, Vanessa, had amazing shoes as well!

We thought the cake topper was perfect.  We also learned that in this hawaiian family, food was important!  We were warned they Kim had a loud family (in a good way) that would cook some amazing food… and there would be plenty of it!  So here are some of the Aunts – I think – that are in the kitchen preparing the feast!  We also took quite a few shots before the wedding of Kim and Bill.

Note on one of the photos below… the flag that was out front of the house!  Another perfect touch.

This whole family had quite a few weather obstacles to deal with.  They had family that wasn’t able to fly in from all the bad weather.  The night before there were high winds and rain.  Thank goodness the tent was grounded before then!  And right before the ceremony was to begin, it started to sprinkle.  We had to rearrange the ceremony from being outside, to inside the tent… at the very last minute!  Of course, everyone pulled it off smoothly and it looked fantastic!

During the ceremony, Kim had her Uncle recite the famous words from “The Princess Bride.”  You know the ones I’m talking about… “Mawriage is what bwrings us together…. Lwove, True Lwove…”  Accent and all, it was hilarious!

And now for the reception…

They hired some hawaiian dancers for the evening.  They did some authentic Hawaiian blessing dances as well as others.  It was quite entertaining to watch.  And as they warned us, there was TONS of food… and it was all AMAZING!  I don’t think I’ve eaten over half the dishes they had!

OK… this was one of the funniest things yet!  I guess one of the Hawaiian wedding traditions is a money dance.  BUT it’s unlike the Texan dollar dance where you pay to dance with the bride or groom.  Here’s how it’s supposed to work.  A person will come up and put a bill in either the bride or grooms mouth (just think about all the money your getting and not all the germs that are going in your mouth!).  The spouse is supposed to kiss the other and grab the money with his/her mouth and then put it in the bag.  Kinda interesting.  But, this family took it to a whole new level!  The family members were coming up and putting the money in all these hilarious places on the bride and groom… down her dress, in his belt… etc.  So as you can imagine, fishing the bills out with your mouth… well, lets just say we took tons of pictures.  It was by far the most funny, unique, and slightly disgusting (only because you put bills in your mouth) tradition i’ve seen.  I laughed the whole time!!!

As you can see above, everyone got to release a butterfly.  It was beautiful to see the fly away.  And below we have the cake cutting.  Lets just say, I’ve never seen a knife quite like this one!  The marine sword was a great touch.

As I said above, this was one amazing wedding!  I loved everything about it, from the food, to the traditions, to the decorations.  You could totally see their personalities brought out in the wedding!  We were honored and privileged to photograph this wedding.  We had a great time and experienced a ton of new things!  Thanks guys!

Georgia & Jordan’s Corona, California Wedding photography {sneak peak}

This past Saturday, we photographed the much anticipated Huckabee/Monroe wedding!  We have been looking forward to this wedding for awhile now!  The wedding took place in Corona, CA where Jordan is from.  It is a beautiful city a few miles outside of the LA area.  The actual site for the wedding was spectacular!  It was called Lemonia Grove.  It used to be a lemon grove years and years ago, but a family bought it, renovated it, and did some amazing landscaping.  They somehow imported tons of trees years ago that are not native to the area.  It made for a beautiful settting.  They also had an antique carriage house, that hasn’t been restored or retouched.  That’s where this first picture was taken… in front of the rustic carriage house.

The owner also had an old vintage 1963 corvette stored inside the carriage house.  He offered to take it out for some pictures… so why not!!!

Overall, it was an amazing, fun, and stress-free wedding.  It was very hard for us to narrow all the pictures down to 4 for this sneak peak… so we’ll have LOTS more pictures up soon!

Corpus Christi Texas Wedding Photography

A few weeks back Andre’a and I had the pleasure to hop on down to the beach.  We went to  Corpus Christi, Texas to second shoot for a photographer friend of mine.  Josh Rodriguez was lo0king for a little help with a wedding and we were free. We also happened to want to take a little vacation to the beach. So it was a win, win for both of us. He got his second shooter(s), and we got some super awesome sea food at Doc’s (I would highly recommend it) and a relaxing weekend at the beach. Not only is Josh a super cool great guy, but he is a very talented photographer and it was a pleasure to work with him. Be sure to check out his website at http://joshrodriguez.com/.

The wedding ceremony was held at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church, Corpus Christi.  Kasey and Doug had a beautiful wedding.  Kasey looked like a super model and had amazing shoes!  I will say one great thing about this family.  They had a lot of stressful situations going on besides the wedding… and you would have never known.  I found out that the bride’s sister/maid of honor, was scheduled to have her baby… THE NEXT DAY!  I’m sure she was worn out, but all you saw was a smile on her face!  Kasey was excited to be staying the next to see the new baby!  And if that wasn’t enough her (the maid of honor) house burn down the week before!!! Right before having a baby!  What on earth?!?!  It’s like something you’d hear about in a movie… not in real life!  But you would never have known all that was going on behind the scenes.  They were all able to have a great time and enjoy the day and moment without the worries of the world, right then.  What great examples to live by!  It was quite inspiring to me!

I love this picture so much… I know it is not technically the most creative of pictures, but what they are looking at is amazing.  All the groomsmen/ushers went in and for a present to the groom they placed many, many bets on the Kentucky Derby.  I think they bet close to $500 and all the winnings would go to the groom.  How stinkin’ awesome is that!!! The paper that they are looking at is completely filled with numbers corresponding to the bets.  The guy in the middle is trying to explain everything to the others, but you could tell no one really knew what was bet.

The reception was held at The Courtyard at Gaslight Square, Corpus Christi.  It was a beautiful outdoor courtyard decorated with lights and fountains.  The bride and groom left the reception to a lit up aisle of sparklers to their get-away car.  All in all, it was a spectacular evening and was glad to be apart!
