Last week we had the privilege of taking some of Christians senior pictures.  (I say “some” because we’ll take more when the cap and gown comes in!)  We’ve known Christian for a few years now.  He is graduating from Cornerstone Christian School (where my little brother Nick graduated from and where my mother taught for 8 years).  So when they asked us to take their pictures… of course we were super excited!  Christian is a pretty busy guy between school, basketball, and tennis (and i’m sure other things as well.)  He’s off to Baylor in the fall along with a couple of other classmates, so good luck to you all!

This photograph ended up being one of Colin’s favorites.  He can’t really explain why because “it breaks all the rules.”  But I agree, it turned out pretty cool.

The coolest thing about Christian is that he’s representin’ the TV show “Chuck”  (which colin and I both love!)  We asked him what character from the show he was most like, and his response was Chuck Bartowski!  What more can you say other than AWESOME!

Let me just say, this is another family that i absolutely LOVE!    Sometimes it’s hard to explain how great a family truly is… this is one of those families.  They are very sincere, self-less, and just have an amazing story.   Here’s one small part… A few years ago, they felt God calling them to adopt a child overseas.  So they left and spent over a month (I think) in a foreign country… where they didn’t speak English… to get the fourth member of their family.  We barely got to meet their daughter Julia before we went on our world travels, and now over 2 years later, she has grown so much.  Well I should say both of their children have grown so much!

One big happy family!

This is another family we’ve know for quite some time.  What can we say about they Wyatt’s?  Well, they’re absolutely hilarious to be around.  They’re so much fun you just can’t help but laugh.  All the four sons and three granddaughters were in town last week… and for mom’s birthday, they all got their pictures taken.

I, Andre’a, (during a photo shoot) usually walk around and try to take some candid photos while Colin is taking the main pictures.  Well, that didn’t quite happen on this shoot.  Since there were three young and energetic girls, I had to keep their attention.  And that means I was standing by Colin bribing them with candy.  (Thank goodness the parents came prepared with the fruit snacks!!!)

Since it had been raining the couple days before this shoot, we opted for the Visitors Center.  Now, this is never our first choice in locations, but i will say… it worked perfect!  We were able to keep everyone dry, and the kids were able to wonder around and not get into the mud.

Anyway, we had a ton of fun and it was great catching up with the whole clan.  So here are a few of the photographs.

For starters, sorry it’s been a few days since our last blog post.  We’ve been out of town tending to some family stuff and haven’t had the chance to post anything.  But we’re back in business now!

The Dauphin family… where to begin.  Colin and I have both known this family for YEARS!  I (Andre’a) actually have some hilarious memories with the two oldest girls.  One video we made in high school with a bunch of friends, still finds it way around to surface and haunt us… to this day!  Kirt is the lead pastor of PaulAnn Baptist Church and this year for the holidays, had the whole family in!  Perfect family picture time!!!  Because this family has so many fun personalities to capture, there wasn’t a dull moment on the shoot.  We had the quiet and composed, the rocker, the doctor, the spiderman fanatic, the superstah (yes, it needs to be said just like that), the athletic, the pianist, the adventurer, the mother, the daughter, the father, the aunt, the sister, the the all around uber cool family.

Three generations of girls!  Poor little Ruthie didn’t look too excited… but she’s got some stinkin cute boots on!

Meet the amazing Kirt and Cindi!  All i can say is, they love each other and love God more!  They are an excellent example of what a marriage should look like.

Chris and Ashley with their two kiddos, Ethan and Ruthie.  Colin actually went to jr. high and high school with Chris, so they’re pretty good friends.  He was telling me his old memories of helping Chris strip his cotton and playing in rock bands together… talk about multi-talented!  Very weird combination, but they are remarkable people and now have a beautiful family.

While we were in Germany…

This is a slideshow of our friends Tom and Svenja.  We were actually in Germany the beginning of December and Svenja’s due date was the 24th!  What a great time to get some maternity photos done!  These two are so much fun and I’ve never laughed so hard during a shoot ever!  I will also brag on Svenja a bit…  I have never seen a more happy pregnant mom-to-be!  She laughed and giggled the whole week we were with them.  Not only that, she never once complained or whined about anything!  I would imagine after all the sightseeing and walking we did, she would have mentioned she was ready to go home.  But nothing of the sort came out of her mouth… and with as much as we did, you know she was exhausted… because I sure was!  But all we heard was more laughing and giggling.  She is an amazing person and an excellent example of how I want to be.  So meet our two hosts and German tour guides, Tom and Svenja!

Colin and I have had a lot of time of reflection lately. We have been discussing what our photography is now, what we offer, and where/what we want our business to be in the future. Because of this, we have completely redone our session fees and wedding packages. Yes, the prices are a bit higher, but with them we are offering so much more than we ever did before – we’re stepping it up a notch. We are even excited about a few extra surprises for our brides and grooms… These new packages and pricing will begin January 1st, 2010.

We wanted to give you time to book at our current price list. We will still be accepting our current prices until the end of the year but not after. We can finally post these pictures!  Sometimes it’s really hard for Colin to hold off posting bridal portraits so the groom can’t see them.  Anyway, Jack and Ashleigh are now married and off on their honeymoon, which makes this a perfect time to post these pictures.  We had a fun time on this shoot.  We found a random umbrella at our house before we left and threw it in the car, just in case.  Boy, are we glad we did that!  It was an amazing prop and Ashleigh knew exactly how to hold it and to make the pictures superb!  All of these photos were taken in down town San Angelo so I hope you enjoy.

Right as we were beginning our shoot, a kind gentleman offered to unlock the ballroom in the Cactus Hotel for us to shoot there.  We hadn’t planned on that, but I’m glad we did.  It’s such a beautiful room and mix that with a beautiful bride… you can’t go wrong.

(this is Colin typing this by the way… so if it does not make much sense, that is why)  Andre’a had a great idea of doing her first photo shoot by her-self for one of her close friends.  And of course she decided to photograph some of the most difficult subjects in the world…. children. Children are crazy, fun, unpredictable, hilarious, small, full of energy, and sometimes emotional.  This makes for a great challenge when photographing them.  Oh, yeah. We are switching roles for this blog, because I usually put the pictures up and she writes the words, not this time.  Back on track… where was I, oh yeah. Andre’a is a great photographer and she often finds unique perspectives of situations that I would have never thought of, I guess that is why we make such a great team.  And she has great taste in lenses… the 50 1.4 for all the pictures, not a bad choice.  I guess I should start talking about these pictures. Like I said before I did not attend this photography session of the children, but Andre’a informs me that it was mid day and lighting not optimal. She really had to work it for some good light.

I think this first picture is my favorite, because you cannot tell if Micah is writing on a wall or on the ground.  The composition paired with the shallow depth of field really works for me.

Last weekend Colin and I (Andre’a) took a little road trip up to the Dallas Fort Worth area.  We had an amazing time catching up with some friends in Dallas, and we took some engagement pictures of Justin and Valerie.  Valerie and I have been friends since high school, so for me, it was a pleasure to take these pictures.  We had some very memorable experiences during our shoot.  First off, we witnessed part of a car chase, saw a Chevy Tahoe that decided it didn’t want to be a “chevy” anymore and had a “Cadillac” emblem placed on it, and then Justin took us to the one and only Joe T Garcia’s for dinner.  If you are in the Ft. Worth area, you must go eat there!  Absolutely delicious.

Anyway, we started off at the Water Gardens of Downtown.  Then we went to a few more sites close by before it got dark and saw the city lit up at night.  The next day we finished up taking some more pictures at the church they will be married at, as well as going to the Botanical Gardens.  We pretty much had a full on tour of Ft. Worth during our shoot!  It was amazing and had a wonderful time.

Not only is this one of Colin’s favorite photos of the evening, but it’s very sentimental as well.  Justin and Valerie actually met at a Starbucks, so why not go back to the place they met!?!

The picture to the left is my  favorite.  It almost looks like a painting.
