Glacier Helicopters heli ride

Last week Andre’a and I got to take a little ride with Franz Josef Glacier Helicopters. (If you’re ever in the area and want a scenic flight… these guys are the ones to use!) It was, to say the least…. amazing. Being able to fly over the glacier and see Mt. Cook up close and personal was an experience we will not soon forget. I had the pleasure of taking photographs while my beautiful wife was in charge of the video… that will be posted soon, probably tomorrow. Since our last helicopter ride (in Uluru at Ayers Rock) was a bit detrimental for Andre’a, she got to sit next to the window the whole time. I think i have a clean slate now and we are finally even.

This is my favorite picture. We had a snow landing above the Fox Glacier.

it’s been a while, but just got lappy back from the shop

Sorry, it has been so long since our last post, but had some serious computer issues. All better now, thanks to a new screen from applecare…. don”t leave home without it!!

Just wanted to do a quick post to show you exactly how much rain we receive in our part of the world. It might be kinda hard to see, but Franz Josef, about 20 min down the road gets alot of rain… (it’s the tallest bar on the graph at over 4,000mm, or 157.48in, per year!) The next tallest bar is Tokyo with just over 1500mm a year. Not that much of a difference, eh? And Seattle, not shown, gets less than 1000mm a year, and I thought it rained alot there….
