Bay of Islands boat trip

Just for the record, this is Andre’a and I did this whole post by myself!… mostly… kinda… well i arranged the pictures and wrote everything. That’s got to count for something… right?!?!?!

Going to the Bay of Islands was one of the big things on Colin’s “list to do.” This bay is made up of 144 islands… some small, some big, some with houses, some with private beaches, and some with camp sites. One island had a house at the top and a gondola going down to the bottom to pick people up. CRAZY! Anyway, we took a boat ride out to one of the furthest most islands… an island with a hole in it – and you (when the waves aren’t too rough) can go through it. Lucky for us, it was a great day and the boat took us through. It was pretty amazing. We also saw one dolphin. The skippers told us since it was such a calm day and we didn’t see hardly any dolphins or whales – they would give us a free voucher to return anytime and take another trip! The voucher doesn’t even expire… ever! So guess who’s going back on a boat ride sometime!!!!

Well enough talk. Here’s the pictures…

This is Colin’s favorite picture. We were almost to the “hole in the rock” when we saw this awesome lighthouse on green rolling hills… breathtaking!

We made it through! It was soooo windy and the boat was rocking pretty hard.

This is the other side of the ‘hole in the rock’. Can you see the face in the rock? Don’t cheat and look at the next picture….

Cheater!!! Here’s a close up of the silhouette. This lady is the guardian of the bay and points direct North. Kinda cool…
