One of my lifelong goals is to camp out overnight, in line (or as they say down here in Australia a “queue”) for something. Some would call me a hero, some would say I am eccentric, but I say that I am just a guy. I am just a guy who got in line 24 hrs before the grand opening of the Sydney Apple Store. I am just a guy who was #12-14 in line. I am just the guy who was interviewed literally 6 times on camera for local, state, national, and international news stations. I am just the guy who woke up on the side of the street with what I thought was the sun shining down on me…. well it turns out it was a light from a news crew video camera.
No matter what anyone tells you, standing in line overnight, for an event is way cool. During the day I felt like I was in a zoo, and that is a good thing. First, we were behind a little barrier, second, people randomly took pictures of us all day, they talked to us, third, a cafe called “vivo” gave us hats, and if we wore the hats we got every meal free, delivered to us from them, last, we got more free food, and candy and other stuff. What could be better? I must say that I thought is was going to be really boring, but the time just flew by.
here are the links that I have found of interviews I am in.
here , here, so far.
there are tons more videos on youtube. I am probably in most. I did get an interview with CNBC that was to be showed world wide, but I could not find it on their site. They have one on there, but that was up before the actual store opening. maybe later.
