Andre’a and I go to church with the Lopez family. I usually see them on Wednesday evenings helping out with making/serving the food to the children. They really are a great family. They have been following my blog for awhile and had a good idea of what they were getting into. So we shot some stuff similar to what I have done before and then got some new stuff just for them. I think this was a fantastic shoot and I hope they are happy with it. Here are some of my favorites.
To me, this looks like a picture you would buy in a picture frame.

They played a little football, I just thought this shot was very cool.

This is what you get when you tell a child to tackle a grownup!!! I loved his expression.

Look how cool they are…

Thanks everyone for such a great shoot.
Well… hope you liked part one. This is what we shot on day 2 for Kary and Matts engagement pictures. For this day, Kary had a great place picked out with a little river, and it is really cool… in the summer. But unfortunately it’s not summer, it’s the middle of January and it did not look good. So, we decided to hit the park. On a side note, I have learned, just recently, that our world around us looks dramatically different between seasons. What looks great during the summer may not look good in winter and visa versa. Who knew… well on with the pictures.

There was a price to pay for this shot. Kary just happened to be sitting on an ant hill. She got bites all on her ankle but was a trooper for the rest of the shoot. Way to take one for the team Kary!!

We totally lucked out… at this park there was a cool red barn and a truck.

and a wishing well… I promise it’s not a trash can.

Thanks guys for this great shoot!!!
Last week Andre’a and I took a little trip to Austin to take pictures of our good friend Kary. She was actually Andre’a’s maid of honor at our wedding! Sadly, I will not be able to shoot her wedding nor will Andre’a be able to be in the wedding because, well… we will be out of the country. (A little note from Andre’a: Not that you need this Kary, but I approve! You’ve found a good one!) We had such a good time on the shoot. Just taking pictures in a cool place like Austin was a blast. We took so many awesome pictures that I am going to have to split this engagement shoot into two blogs. I narrowed it down to 40 pictures, then I got Andre’a to help me and we finally settled on the top 32. Well here is the first day…
When we were driving to pickup matt for the shoot, we saw this fantastic blue wall. It looked like a bunch of bluish pixels.

In the middle of the street in front of the capital building.

We were walking up to the capital and I spotted this really cool door and wall and just had to grab a few shots with it.

Andre’a had never been to Austin, so our photo shoot became a tour. But we still made the most of every moment!!

This was a fun shot in the capital.

Then next thing we knew it was dark outside. We went to the UT campus and took some night shots there. (That’s where Matt graduated.)

This was actually on the top of Matt’s condo building. It was pretty funny, there was a sign up there that said there was a $500 fine for jumping off, and it was a 14 story building… you figure it out…

Funny story with this shot… It is actually a 2.5 second exposure. To get it, we had them jump really cool with the flash. Then they continued to jump up and down to block the light of the skyline a little bit. (so you can’t see the light as much through them) It was pretty funny watching them do this. We only had to do it 7 times to get the perfect shot!

I loved the little silhouette action.

What a great photo shoot. If you are very astute, you might recognize her from Mandy’s wedding a couple of months ago. Well this is Mandy’s little sister. I cannot say enough good things about this shoot. It seemed like everything just came together perfectly… I will let the images explain.
How cool is this picture!! Looks like it could be on the cover of a fashion mag or something. Ariel totally sold this picture with the look on her face and I just happen to take it at the perfect time.

I loved this image. It is probably another one of my favorite. It was at dusk, we used an off camera flash and my large diffuser to make the light a little softer.

We got a total different feel with this image. Very urban. I think, in this picture, she kinda looks like the girl on “hitched”, you know Will Smiths girl friend.

We found some more old cars!! I think portraits with vintage cars have such a cool look to them.

Gotta love the backlight!!

This is a reminder that we are leaving in 2 weeks so if anyone is needing any pictures or digital files please contact me soon. I am still running a portrait shoot and a disk of all usable digital images package for $250 plus tax.
Andre’a and I had a fantastic Christmas break. We had Christmas with my parents and then had new years in Arizona with Andre’as family.
Everyone that was in arizona.

the grown ups.

my madre got these antler things for all their dogs… I am sure they all loved them. Just look at the excitement on Jem’s face

I thought this was a cool pic of the miniature town at my parents house

This is the front of the postcard we made to share with some of the family how to contact us when we are out of the country. This is why it pays to be a professional photographer. We need a nice picture to send to our worldvision child, so andre’a and I headed to the alley behind our house and set the timer on the camera and got this great pic. Not bad for like taking 10 minuites.

Well, this was our twelfth and final shoot with Ms. Evan! It was her 1 year old Birthday Party! It was so fun to watch all the kiddos crawl around as well as the parents chase after them all. The party was a big hit and huge success if you ask me! It has been a pleasure watching this little girl grow up and can’t wait to see how big she is when we get back. So, here’s the pics…

Shortly after the Raley family shoot we had the Monsey family shoot…or was it before. I cannot remember. Well I work, I mean worked with, Lauren up at paulann and she had been meaning to get a new family portrait. What a great family, it was a joy working with you.
I am pretty sure backlighting is my new favorite thing… but it can bite you if you don’t watch out. To me, backlighting is like a lovely rose. It can be very beautiful, but if you look closely and don’t pay attention to what you are doing it can ripe a huge hole in your heart… or picture… or shirt… or whatever. you get my point.

look how perfect that is…

what can I say… it looks great.

Great family shot.

We spent a little time playing in the flowers.

Now it is play time!!

I am catching up on my blog!!! but I still have a long way to go. When I worked at PaulAnn, Alicia (the preschool coordinator) and her family wanted us to take some family pictures before we left for the other side of the world. I guess they figured it would be kindof hard once we moved. With this shoot we went to the lilly pad park. It is really cool there because it is so dynamic in a small amount of space.
These shots are posted in reverse order (because I liked the last one best)
We ended the shoot with a little football. boys against girls of course!!

A sweet silhouette of luke.

what is a family photo shoot without some wrestling?

From this day forth…(until the end of Jan.)
I am going to have a portrait special called: uh… I cant think of a cool name for it. I must ponder this.
well anyways, it will include 1 portrait session (family, bridal, engagement, senior, whatever) and a disk of all the usable images with minor edits for your happy printing pleasure. I am even going to try and have the disk to you by the next day. The keyword there is try, because i might bet bogged down and it might take 2 days, or so, to get you the disk. but it is my goal to get it to you by the next day. You get all of this for the low cost of $250 + tax, that is about $100 off my normal fee. just email colin@matchlessphotography.com or call 325-234-0793 for more info and to set up an appointment.
Now for the news part:
We are back from Phoenix. Andre’a and I spent the new years with some of her family there. It was a great trip and her family was more than great to us. I think I played halo 3, with her cousins, until my eyes almost came out. It was good fun… at least for everyone else because they enjoyed taking me out, over and over again. but I must admit, this nube has got some skills. On another note Andre’a and I have nearly got all our paperwork back to move to Australia/New Zealand. I think there are only like 28 days till we are off. Wow, we have alot to do in those 28 days. Well, I have to get back to working on some pictures.
