You heard right. I went back out to the country to take some more pictures. This time it was the last couple hours of stripping the cotton. It was at dusk and the lighting was spectacular. It was pretty much what every photographer dreams of. I even brought out my uv filter to make the sky look even better. It was the most perfect evening to be out in the sticks.
The pictures are in reverse order from when they were shot. I really liked this first one. It was almost completely dark outside. There was just enough light from the sun to see the outline of the tractor

I was shooting this shot and noticed that something missing… someone needed to be in the tractor. I got Matt to hop in and that is what did it.

I could not figure out which of the silhouettes I liked better.

So I put them both in.

This just might be my favorite shot of the evening. This is my good friend Wes. I love that you can see the farm equipment in the background. It really gives it a sense of place.

The boss.

The crew.

How quickly is it to fall behind on my blog? Well, if you are me, and I know you are not, it is rather easy. Ever feel like you are just workin’ and workin’ and workin’ and not getting anywhere?… No matter how much I work, it seems like it does not make a dent in the pile. If you know what that is like, you know exactly where I am. I worked all day today trying to catch up, the more I work the more I realize I have so much more to do. I have made progress though!!
Kevin Kirkland of Katalyst Ministries asked me a while back if i would do some promo shots for his new website and also throw in a couple of family shots as well. I always love the challenge of doing something new, so of course I said I would. What a fun shoot. We started out doing some normal family pictures, but having them highlight Kevin. (He wanted some for his website that showed he had a family.)Â check. Then, after that we sent the family on and and shot some of our own. Sometimes shooting men is difficult. We generally take pictures of brides and they tend to like a more feminine look to their portraits. With these pictures I definitely wanted a more masculine look to them. I absolutely love this first picture! Sometimes when you take a shot, you are not completely sure how it is going to translate into the camera. Sometimes it is better, sometimes it is worse. This time, for me, it was way better. Tell me what you think.

Well, most of you probably already know, but Andre’a and I are moving to Australia this February. Yep, thats right!! We have been thinking about it for a while and finally made our decision. This is going to be a once in a lifetime experience. We got hooked up with a work exchange program called BUNAC. For this program, we will live in Australia for 4 months then relocate to New Zealand for the next 12 months. How often does a chance like this happen? I am so excited about this trip! I can hardly wait. Just think, when I am and old grandpa, Andre’a and I will be telling our grandkids about this trip. This is what life is all about… the adventure… the unknown. It’s really exciting.
Many people have asked us what we will be doing once we get down there. To answer that question very precisely…”I don’t have a clue.” I am sure we will get some sort of casual labor job that will get us by and hopefully fund our weekend excursions to who knows where.
Our plane leaves on Feb 5th and we will arrive Sydney on the 7th. It works out that way because we loose a day going through so many time zones.
On a side note if you know anyone in Australia or New Zealand we would greatly appreciate any contacts we could get. Also, if you or anyone you would know are in the market for a 2000 ford mustang, 2000 ford escort, 24in apple imac, a 1800 lume projector, fender 5 string jazz bass, or an acoustic guitar, please contact me. I also have more stuff that has to go before we leave, it is pretty much all for sale. just email.
I think that is all for now.
