off to the country…

Last week Andre’a got to head out to the country for a photo shoot. And when I say country, I mean… the deep sticks. You know, the little place in-between Doole and Millersview. If you know where those two places are, well… I am sorry. No, it was great. My longtime, good friend from high school, Chris and his wife wanted to do some family pictures out there. We hopped in the truck and drove to where else, but a cotton field. I have never shot in a cotton field before, but it turned out all-right. It is alot harder than you think, the little white balls of cotton just love to play tricks on the camera. Following the cotton field shoot, we drove on over to Chris’s parents house in the country that they had just sold. It was kindof a bitter-sweet time for all of us because we all had some great memories out at that place. Thanks for the great shoot you guys!! It was awesome.

All they need now is a big pitchfork.

It is hard to believe that Chris used to be this hardcore kicker in high school… now he thinks he is a rock star.

I can just see the cotton logo on this pic for their new add campaign.

I am addicted to the strobist blog. I had to try some out.

If you have a chance you should check out his band, Ornans floor. These guys are way awesome. I had a chance to do a little promo shoot for them a while back. It was great. Hopefully, I will be able to do one more before I leave. More to come on that in my next post.

Susan & Bryan

Third times a charm, or lucky number 3, or 3 strikes you are out, or the rule of thirds (for all the photographers out there) or three times in a row. That last one nails what happened to Andre’a and I the last 3 shoots we had. I think, since we got our latest haircut, we must look like we are causing trouble. The first evening: Andre’a and I are doing some personal shooting in a junkyard in the evening. We are just minding our own business and the person who runs the store drives up and interrogates us. I explain we are photographers and he lets us go. The next night: we are shooting Jennifer and Marks pictures at the place with the cars and the owner once again drives up in his car and asks if we need anything. I could have used some help holding one of the flashes, but I didn’t think that is what he meant. Once again, I explain that we are taking pictures and he lets us continue. The next evening: we are on location at Old Fort Concho, it is dark out and we are once again shooting pictures. This time we are with Susan and Bryan, and the director of the fort comes out and asks what we are doing. I must admit, it might looked a little fishy because we were behind some buildings, flashes were going off, a little giggling, and a group of kids. Once he got over there he quickly realized what we were up to and let us continue. This hardly ever happens and for it to happen 3 times in a row… i must be doing something wrong. Oh well… we got some great pictures in the process.
Here are some of my favs from Susan and Bryan!!!

Jennifer and Mark

Jennifer and Mark are a great couple. Andre’a and I… well… kindof work with Jennifer. Let’s just say that we all share the same office space up at the church. Jennifer works for Project Impact and her office space is right next to Andre’a’s office space, which is on the other side of the wall from my office. So, basically we are all just one big happy family. Jennifer has been eyeing my blog lately and next thing you know, we are on the photo shoot. We started this shoot in “the alley” and then moved to this other great location. It is a secret, but if you can guess, or know where it is you will instantly receive 1,000,000 cool points, a get out of jail free pass, and possibly an autographed print from me (limit one to the first correct answer in the comments). You must be specific in your answers. I will give you a hint: it is in San Angelo! Note: Jennifer and Mark – you may NOT answer. sorry… well… on with the prints.

I think this one is my fav. I just love how it turned out.

I was totally inspired by these old cars.

There is a certain amount of power that comes with being a photographer. You can pretty much tell anybody, to do anything, whenever you want. And they do it. amazing.

Amanda’s bridal shoot

I think I have the coolest clients in the world. They are all just fabulous!! Amanda’s bridal shoot was so much fun and her mom/makeup assistant/hair stylist/wardrobe fixer/lighting engineer/counselor (cindy) was such a help. I almost killed myself on this shoot as well as saved a choking dog!! How’s that for exciting! We started out at the park, then headed under the train track bridge, and then headed to a church. Well here you go.

I think these first two are my favorites. I just loved shooting under this bridge.

Amanda’s inspiration for this shot was to give me something “sassy”.

Mr. Landon

How fun are senior portraits… well, when Landon is your client, that is not far from the truth. We had a fantastic time on this shoot, but we could not have done it without his friend Osie. Osie was a big help to us by holding the extra flashes – to lifting me up on his shoulders to get an awesome shot. Thanks guys for this great shoot!!

No photoshop required on this shot, only a long exposure and an off camera flash. And I got it on the first try.

Briana senior pictures

Last week we were really busy. We shot a couple of senior pictures and even a bridal shoot. Hopefully, this week I will catch up on everything. The first shoot was of Briana from Robert Lee. She was such a sport and was very willing to let us do whatever. I think we got some very nice portraits. I hope you like them. These are some of my favorite pictures from Briana’s portrait session.

Jamie and Chad wedding

A couple of weeks ago Andre’a and I (Colin) got to photograph this sweet wedding out in the country. It was so much fun. Usually, on the wedding day, we follow the bride around getting her hair done, makeup, etc… But at this wedding, they made a special request that I go with the groom during the day and Andre’a stay with the bride. I must admit, at first I was skeptical, but then I was told they were going to ride horses and do other fun stuff that the groom wanted me to capture. I’m sure glad that I went. In addition, I think this was the best wedding Andre’a has ever shot!! She did and excellent job at capturing little moments throughout the day. When I was looking back at her pictures, I felt like I was right there. The wedding was outside of Mertzon Texas, on a little ranch owned my Matthew McConaughey. That was cool by itself. Well that is enough talk… on with the pictures.

It is so hard narrowing down what pictures to show everyone…

I think this one is my all time favorite. I could just see it on the cover of Texas Monthly.
